We are 20something year old independent filmmakers hailing from New York City. We've embarked on a documentary in the fall of 2008 to enlighten and shine a positive light on the crazy, devoted, entertaining and fun world of fangirls.
From New Kids on the Block to Backstreet Boys, from Hanson to Jonas Brothers, female fans are a huge part of these bands' existence and ultimate success, and in the midst of their shrieks and squeals, they have turned their fandom into a true phenomenon.
We will be traveling around the tri-state area (and hopefully venture off into other parts of the country) to sit down with fans and bands from all walks of the pop-idol world to talk about their stories and experiences.
If you are willing and able to have a sit-down interview with us about your love for your band of choice -- and have stories, photographs and enthusiasm to contribute -- please e-mail FANUMENTARY@GMAIL.COM with your current location (city and state) and your availability.
In the meantime, browse through this page to see our progress! ~Jessie & Alanna
FANumentary now has it's own domain! Granted, it's domain leads you here... but either way, good times!
This weekend I interviewed some Hanson fans who got a delivery of Hanson valentines chocolate while I was there. My jaw dropped when I saw the chocolate. Really??? Hanson chocolate!?!
Then I remembered my own fandom. I have a pair of John Cena socks (hey, you can always use socks right?), a talking harry potter wand (who DOESN'T need one of those), spice girls lollipops (they were delicious!), and New Kids on the Block bedsheets/pillowcase and sleeping bag (gotta sleep somewhere right?)
I guess you can slap a face on any old product and if you love the person enough, you'll buy it. The girls said the chocolates tasted good, so that at least makes it worth the money. I get a lot of use out of my John Cena socks. Unfortunately, I had to retire the NKOTB bedding and ate all the spice girl lollipops. Although the Harry Potter talking wand isn't being used as much as I thought it would...
What's the funniest/craziest item you've ever purchased as a fan? Perhaps it's something we should ask some of the people we interview.
